President George W. Bush
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington, DC 20500
Dear President Bush:
A very hardy congratulations to you on your re-election!  I was behind you all the way encouraging others to vote for you.

I retired from the U.S. Air Force in early 1988 and have been an independent Baptist missionary to Thailand ever since.  One of my supporting churches is Windsor Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City where Dr. James A. Vineyard is the Pastor.  Pastor Vineyard was a Green Beret who was stationed in Laos during the Vietnam era.  I live and work on the Laotian boarder, broadcasting the Gospel of Jesus Christ into that Communist country daily.

Believers there in Laos and in Vietnam are often severely persecuted.  Senator John F. Kerry is partly responsible for that, as well as for the blood bath and mass exodus from Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam beginning in 1975.
Mr. President, as a Bible believing Christian, I am a Zionist, that is, I believe in the Hebrew people's right to the Land.  This is the reason I am writing you.  God promised the Land to Abraham and his son Isaac (not Ishmael), and to Isaac's son Jacob (not Esau), and to the children of Jacob, the nation of Israel for ever (Genesis 17:19, 26:3, 28:13, 35:12).  Psalm 105:6-12 says:

"O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen. He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth. He hath remembered his covenant FOR EVER, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac; And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an EVERLASTING covenant: Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance: When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it."

Mr. President, "the land of Canaan" is all the land west of the Jordan River, including Gush Katif  (Gaza).  Dr. Vineyard will be going to Gush Katif within the next few days.  He will be spending several days with Moshe Saperstein, a one armed hero of the Yom Kippur War when Egypt and Syria staged a surprise attack on Israel similar to al Qaeda's 9/11 attack on US.

The Yom Kippur War began on October 6, 1973 and ended 19 days later.  Most of the Jews had been fasting because Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) is the most sacred time of their entire year (Leviticus 23:26-32).  It was the largest conventional war, in terms of armored forces, since the end of World War II.  Some 5,000 tanks (3,000 Arab versus 2,000 Israeli) were employed.  Over 1,000,000 (838,000 Arabs against 275,000 Jews).  The Israeli forces experienced some initial setbacks from the Russian-equipped army of Egypt.  However, in the north, Israel began to drive toward Damascus.  Soon Israeli troops were able to invade Egypt also.  When the United Nations was finally able to enforce a cease-fire, the Israeli troops were within 20 miles of Damascus and occupied territory on the west bank of the Suez Canal in Egypt.  On October 25, 1973, the fourth and by far biggest Middle East war came to and end.  Arab casualties exceeded 15,000.  Israeli losses were over 4.000. [1]

Mr. President, in 1947 President Harry S. Truman asked Dr. J. Frank Norris, my parents' Pastor, about the Arab / Israeli problem.  Dr. Norris, like Dr. Vineyard and myself, had traveled to Israel and the Middle East, and had studied the situation closely.  In his reply to President Truman dated October 2, 1947 Dr. Norris wrote:

"... I have given extensive study to the Jewish Palestinian question. The issue is whether we will take the authority of the Bible of our mothers or the Koran with the sword and flame. ... Thirteen hundred years ago the Arabs were usurpers, Mohammed with fire and sword, and they were robbers of property that belongs to the Jews. ... A second and very important authority in addition to Scriptural authority, Great Britain was given mandate over Palestine for the purpose of Jewish immigration into that land and for making it a national home.  This mandate was confirmed by the United States Government and by the 57 nations of the League of Nations.  The tragedy and the cause of all the present trouble is that Neville Chamberlain, Prime Minister, put on a two-fold appeasement in 1939:  First, with Hitler, and that brought on World War II.  Second, with the Arabs, who were the allies of Hitler. ... Based on the mandate given to Great Britain over Palestine, and confirmed by the United States Government and confirmed by the League of Nations, the Jews invested six hundred and fifty million dollars in Palestine, built cities, public works, and the curse of God Almighty is on every hand that violates this most solemn agreement, the mandate three times over confirmed.  Now, Mr. President, it certainly is a matter that should cause us to stop and think that the Arab leaders from the Grand Mufti on down were allies of Hitler, and it ill becomes them to come now into court with their hands dripping with the blood of the Jews six million of them murdered by Hitler. ..." [2]

Mr. President, when Israel declared it's self a nation on May 14, 1948, just 7 months after Dr. J. Frank Norris wrote this letter, President Truman was the first head of state to recognize tiny Israel as a nation. [3]  This is one of the reasons God has blessed the United States of America above all nations.

On the other hand on May 15, 1948, the day after Israel declared her independence, she was invaded by Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Egypt and Lebanon.  The Arab soldiers out numbered the Jews forty to one.  Against the massive and well-armed invasion, Israel had but 10,000 rifles and 360 sub-machine guns.  The situation seemed hopeless for Israel.  On February 24, 1949, the War of Independence ended.  The tiny nation not only survived, but found itself strengthened.  However, a costly price was attached to the victory: the lives of 6,000 Jews, approximately 10% of the total population!  As a result of her War of Independence, Israel gained 23% more territory. [4]

God's providence can be seen in His dealings with His chosen earthly people.  Judging from the overwhelming Israeli victories in the face of insurmountable odds in the War of Independence (May 15, 1948 to February 24, 1949), the Sinai War (October 29 to November 5, 1956), the Six-Day War (May 30 to June 4, 1967), and the Yom Kippur War (October 6 - 25, 1973) we can see God's protecting hand on Israel.  Furthermore, by looking at history we an see that WW I prepared the Land for the Jews with the British victory over the Turks who possessed it, and then WW II prepared the Jews for the Land through the Holocaust.  This after almost 1900 years of disbursement with few left in the Land.  This is clearly the fulfillment of Bible prophecy (Isaiah 11:11-12; Ezekiel 34:13, 36:24, 37:11-14, 21-23, 39:25; Jeremiah 16:15, 23:3, 31:8-10; Deuteronomy 30:3-4; Matthew 24:32-35; cf. Hosea 9:10).

Please, Mr. President, let US be a blessing to Israel by taking a strong stand for that nation's God given right to the Land.  God declared to Abraham,  "I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed [through Jesus Christ]." (Genesis 12:3)  And God said through Isaac to Jacob, "... cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee." (Genesis 27:29)  "And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him.  And he took up his parable, and said, ... Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee." (Numbers 24:2-3, 9)

Mr. President, our nation is already in serious trouble with God for the murder of millions of defenceless and innocent babies, for kicking God out of our schools and allowing atheistic evolution to be taught as fact, for tolerating Sodomy, for allowing extreme wickedness over our TV and radio airwaves, etc.  Let's not add cursing Israel to the list.

Mr. President, let US bless Israel by opposing Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's "Disengagement Plan"and stand for their Biblical right to the Land.  For the Almighty declares, "I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat [Jehovah has judged], and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and PARTED MY LAND." (Joel 3:2)  This verse is speaking of the future Great Tribulation, but your decisions now can effect God's dealing with our Nation then.  Please don't let America be party to dividing up Israel's land to give to their enemy.  I hope you will set a precedence for the future in this matter.

Today the Arab nations of Jordan, Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon adjoining Israel have 1,294,769 square kilometers of land as opposed to Israel's 20,770.  That is over 60 times more land.    After WW I the principal obligation of the British Mandate was to facilitate the implementation of  the Belfour Declartation of November 2, 1917 which pledged "the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people."  In 1922 Great Briton divided Palestine into two administrative districts and in 1946 they created an independent Palestine - Arab state, Jordan.  The next year  on 29 November the General Assembly of the United Nations voted a two thirds majority to partition west Palestine into a Jewish / Arab state.  The Arabs rejected it  and the Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin Al Husseini, declared "Jihad."  Israel absorbed around 600,000 Jews that fled from Arab states, but after the War of Independence ended in February of 1949 the Arab states made no attempt to absorb some 720,000 Arabs that had fled Israel.  Instead the Arab states kept them in refugee camps and used them as political pawns.  The destruction of Israel has been the stated purpose of all four wars started by the Arabs against Israel. [5]   There is no sign of change in the Islamic Arab's unjustified hatred of the Jews.  Therefore, it is not logical to disengage or give up one inch of territory won fair and square from the Arabs.  That has been proven to be folly.  Yet Prime Minister Sharon wants to pull out of West Bank and Gaza.

If Prime Minister Sharon's Disengagement Plan goes forward it will embolden terrorists.  Sharon's plan is a program of PLO empowerment, not disengagement. [6]  Here's why:  1)  The Sharon plan assumes that the PLO will "fight against terrorism" and institute "reforms," but history proves that they will not.   2)  Clause one of the Sharon plan describes PLO security forces as "not a reliable peace partner," yet they are to receive abandoned Israeli military bases yet the plan speaks of "evacuating an area in northern Samaria (The West Bank)" including 4 villages and all military installations and re-deployment outside the vacated areas. Why should Israel to cede military installations to an entity with whom Israel is in a state of war?  Where is the logic in giving military installations to the most "unreliable peace partner" which ever existed, Arafat, and his terrorist thugs (Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, et. al.).   3) The Sharon plan mandates that Gaza will "be demilitarized and shall be devoid of weaponry."  Prime Minister Sharon seems to have forgotten that the PLO defied the Oslo accords, which stipulated 9,000 PLO in security forces, by unilaterally increasing them to more than 50,000?   4)  Why should Israel dismantle Gush Katif communities? Those communities were established on lands where no Arab villages were lost in the 1967 war when Israel took Gaza, Judea, and Samaria?  However, today the world calls this area the Occupied Territories.   5) The Sharon plan forgets that military training facilitated by Israel, USA, and others, for the past four years has been used to fuel the PLO terror war against Israel.   6) The Sharon plan forgets that Egypt allows weapons to be smuggled to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.   7)  It is called a "disengagement plan," yet in the "economic arrangements" we find that the entry of Palestinians workers into Israel from their lands remain unchanged,  the entry and exit of goods between Gaza, the west bank, Israel, and abroad - are all enhanced,  there are telecommunications arrangements so they can continue to use their cell phones to blow up Israelis.

This plan does not disengage Israel from the Palestinian Arab population.  Instead it merely moves Jews off land they have settled, land given to them by the highest authority of all - God Almighty himself.  In a nutshell, Prime Minister Sharon's plan strengthens the PLO and gives the impression that terrorism pays.  If Prime Minister Sharon's Disengagement Plan is enacted the terrorists will have won a great victory!  Terrorism will continue, and the only reform the PLO will try to effect is the eradication of the Jews.

There is no one who wants peace between the Arabs and the Jews more than we Christian Zionists, and it will come to pass when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to rule the world (Isaiah 19:21-25, 27:12-13).  However, it is just not possible now for the Word of God says:

"For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.  They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.  They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.  For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:  The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. ... So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.  Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.  Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:  That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. (Psalm 83:2-8, 15-18).

The land belongs to Israel (Genesis 12:1-3, 17:19, 26:3, 28:13; Psalm 105:8-12).  They should not disengage.  Not one inch should be given to the terrorists who are holding the Palestinian people hostage and brain washing them.

Mr. President, thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter.  My people and I will be praying for you daily.

Sincerely yours,

John Henry, Th.M.
